Plain ordinary concrete can be transformed into beautiful decorative concrete using a number of techniques. Using a combination of these techniques, the creative options are virtually endless. With decorative concrete, you can beautify patios, sundecks, courtyards, pool decks, entryways, breezeways, sidewalks, pavilions, driveways, porches, and garages. Even if the concrete is old, chipped, stained, and cracked, there are many options available. Decorative concrete can also be used in new construction as less expensive, yet an equally beautiful, alternative to natural stone like marble and granite.
Here are some of the processes we use to create decorative concrete:
Acid Stained Concrete
Acid stains react with concrete at the molecular level to give it a mottled and variegated look resembling marble, granite, and other natural rock. If sealed properly, acid stained concrete is very durable.
Micro-coatings give concrete a very thin polished overlay. This can be an excellent option to restore old and weathered concrete flooring and to give a concrete surface a beautiful shine.
Concrete Floor Coatings
With this technique, you can get a surface that looks like stone paving without all the inherent issues associated with real river rock. If your old concrete has cracks, these can be incorporated into the scoring of the decorative design in the same way a stone mason would work with the beautiful imperfections in natural stone. The final effect is a truly classy look.
Originally developed to restore old European buildings, this coating contains crushed quartz and various types of limestone to give a very realistic limestone appearance.
This process has up to 7 steps and brings out the natural ground stone appearance of concrete. It can look like natural sandstone if a natural color is chosen.
Stamped Concrete Overlay
Stamped overlays provide aesthetically pleasing unique patterns on the surface. This is a good way to cover up flaws and blemishes in older concrete. It's also a great option to get a big bang for your hard earned buck. For example, deep cracks, areas of discoloration, and weather induced uneven surfaces can all be hidden under a stamped concrete overlay instead of tearing out the old concrete and starting over.
Thin Brick Pavers
These thin brick-like pavers can overlay any horizontal concrete surface. These look absolutely elegant on a long winding sidewalk or walkway!
Epoxy floor coverings are an excellent choice for residential garages and home shops. They are also the perfect solution for many commercial businesses such as manufacturing warehouses, industrial plants, pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, laboratories, and food manufacturing plants. They provide a seamless surface that is easy to clean and resistant to damage. They are also very attractive and don't lose this quality easily. Epoxy can also be a final overlay to acid stained concrete and other decorative concrete.
